The original Gillsea design was conceived while Andras walked his dogs in the middle of a gloomy November night. An interesting shape appeared on the sky as the Moon shined through the clouds, and Gillsea was born on November 20, 2018. It is hard to tell the gender of this creature, but Andras is convinced that Gillsea is female. Her name comes from the words gill - the aquatic respiratory organ - and sea. Her name emphasizes how important breathing and a healthy aquatic ecosystem are for human survival. Andras is an expert in sustainability with some business and extensive sport background. He is a competitive runner with a creative side. He liked drawing in high school and did some designing throughout college, but creating art was never a priority until recently. Andras wanted to influence people to live in a more environmentally friendly and healthier way, and Gillsea was up for the task. Gillsea became the face of an eco-friendly clothing brand promoting environmental and social justice. The designs highlight important environmental and social issues. Gillsea clothes are environmentally friendly, made of organic or sustainably sourced cotton. A few items also contain a small amount of recycled polyester. Other than just raising awareness for important issues and offering high quality clothes, Gillsea also gives part of its income to reforestation efforts. Currently, 1€ is spent on reforestation efforts per item sold. Once Gillsea becomes more established, the materials used in making the clothes will become even more environmentally friendly and another 1€ will be donated after each item sold for the cause highlighted by the specific design on the item. Gillsea strives to be different, to be a truly responsible clothing brand with a loud voice.
